Savannah Safari Adventure Walk for Young People

a hunt for animals found in the architecture of Historic Savannah

Savannah Safari

An Adventure Walk for Girl Scout and
school groups – (ages 8-11)

 

Ø      Search for wild animals in the architecture of Historic Savannah.

Ø      Each hunter needs the Safari book ($5 each) and a pencil.

Ø      A trained Safari Guide (or more than one is/are available  OR  the tour, with books, can be self-guided.

Ø      Completion of the tour qualifies a participant for an official Safari patch ($2.00 each), if desired.

Ø      Girl Scouts can now earn an official merit badge from the GSA by completing the Safari!

Ø      The adventure begins in Chippewa Square at the monument of General Oglethorpe.

Ø      Allow 2 hours for the walk.

 


 

Cost: $40 for a group of up to ten; $4 apiece for each young person beyond ten.

 

The book (required for each participant) includes:

Ø      a color map of the route of the Safari;

Ø      tales of Juliette Gordon Low (“Aunt Daisy”), as told by her niece and nephew;

Ø      drawings of all wild animals to be found on the search;

Ø      a poem relating to each of the animals. A word or words for hunters to discover is/are missing from each poem . Here is an example:

                 “Before her name

    Became Low by marriage,

    Here’s where Daisy hitched

    Her horse and ____________.“
